The scene captures a moment of military discipline and camaraderie, set against a backdrop of trees and residential homes, suggesting a small-town setting.
The back of the postcard features a divided back, indicating it was produced between 1907 and 1915. The card includes a handwritten message: 'Dear Mabel, Well we are home yesterday Sun. and heard your dandy graphaphone. It is raining today, we expected to thrash about Wed. but don't know when we will now if it rains much more. I have a girl now Ruth Foster I suppose you no her don't you? she has been here a week she wants to stay longer I will help her until after we thrash anyway. (but am not very much stuck on her) was glad to see someone while mother was gone. Say Godfrey Anderson and a Mr. Erickson and another young man are camping up here. Madge looks real well and had such a good time. Mom is better, I see you didn't have a card like this. With love, Maude.'
